ORIPEN-1 INJECTION Meropenem 1gm for Injection
Composition : Each vial for injection/infusion contains Meropenem Trihydrate Eq. to 1 g Anhydrous Meropenem with Sodium carbonate Eq. to 90.2 mg Sodium
Indications :
  • Infections of the lungs and bronchi in patients with cystic fibrosis
  • Complicated urinary tract infections, and abdomen
  • Infections that individual can catch during or after childbirth
  • Complicated infections of skin and soft tissue
  • Acute infections of the brain (meningitis) caused by a bacterium
Contraindications : In patients hypersensitive to the active substance or to any of the excipients and any other carbapenem antibacterial agent. And in patients with severe hypersensitivity (e.g. anaphylactic reaction, severe skin reaction) to any other type of beta-lactam antibacterial agent (e.g. Penicillins or Cephalosporins).
Adverse Effects :
  • Severe rash, itching or hives on the skin.
  • Swelling of the face, lips, tongue or other parts of the body.
  • Shortness of breath, wheezing or difficulty breathing.
Dosage : Usual dose is 500mg every 8 hrs for skin infections and 1gm every 8 hrs for intra-abdominal Infections.
